Weekly update

Hello :)

Here's a short weekly update for you:

I'm looking forward to this weekend, haven't played this much Warhammer in quite some time! ^^

Here's also a picture of the terminator I promised.

Realized that the highlighting wasn't as protruding as I had hoped, looked at the already painted Dark Vengance terminator and realized I had added an extra highlight as well so now I'm doing that. It looks more finished now and as soon as I have highlighted them all I can head on to the other details! Hopefully they'll all be finished by next week :)
Also I will repaint the head and the hand, the white looks a bit off and I think it will look much better with a grey undercoat and lining rather than brownish.

DA: Troops and Dedicated Transports

Hello

Here's the review of the Dark Angels: Troops and Dedicated Transports section of the codex :)

Today I was hoping to finish of lining some of the terminator armor on my Deathwings. I have already made the final highlight on the armor for two of them, just 8 more and one dread to go ^^ Though they look utterly unfinished at the moment since they're basically covered in bleached bone and it just looks like I have done anything (which in itself is good cause it means I did a nice job on the bleach bone coloring!). Looking forward to painting details so that they start looking complete :)
I'll take a photo of them tomorrow, tried just seconds ago but since it's already dark the highlights doesn't even show on a photo.
God, I miss summer! And, oh, I look forward to it so much cause my balcony is juuuust big enough to fit a battle board so I'll be able to make outdoorsy battle reports in the sun :D

Weekend round up

Hello!

So this weekend had also been quite nice! :)

Started of, spent the entire, and ended the saturday by playing Magic: the gathering - since it was the prerelease for Gatecrash ^^.
To make up for not doing anything Warhammer related some friends came over sunday evening and we played a 2v2 game of 1500p.

I played Dark Angels and was allied with Space Wolves and our opponents were Chaos Space Marines and Tyranids. Warlords were Sammael and a Sorcerer from the Chaos Space Marines.
The mission was Purge the Alien.

I had all the Dark Vengance models + Sammael.
The Space Wolves player had 3 Grey Hunters units, 1 Rune Priest, 1 Dreadnought in a Drop Pod and 1 Long Fangs pack in a Rhino.
The Chaos Player had 1 Heldrake, 1 Sorcerer, 1 group of 20 Chaos Space Marines with mark of Khorne and an icon giving them furious charge.
The Tyranid player had one Hive Tyrant, a group of 5 Tyranid Warriors, 1 Zoantrophe,  2 Tyranid Hive Guards and a group of 5 Tyranid Raveners. (we bent the rules a bit and said it was okay with 1 HQ and two troop choices all together).
I won't go into detail of the weapons since I don't know exactly how all the models were equipped.

My team started out the deployment and also took first turn. We spread out over two tiles of the board and our opponents basically stayed on one tile in a corner. We tried to shoot as many of the CSMs we could but ended up killing only one. My Space Marines tried to move up a floor in a building but failed the range in their difficult terrain roll and were stranded behind a wall with nothing to shoot at. The Dreadnought dropped without mishap in their deployment zone and took a nice shooting run at the Hive Guards, inflicting one wound.
Now it was time for the other guys, first off the chaos player had  rolled for the warlord trait that allows for a D3 of his units to have the infiltrate special rule. That made the CSMs deploy rather close to us. All the Tyranids had more or less deployed behind that group. With all the shooting the Dreadnought exploded, 3 Grey Hunters and one Bike died (naturally the one with the plasma gun). No assault.

On to turn 2 and my Deathwing Terminators were beamed down next to the bikes to avoid scattering since we had quite a lot of terrain and all the opponents were bundled up. My Space Marines finally made their difficult terrain test and got to move up a floor to have some nice place to shoot from without moving the plasma cannon.
We shot some more and killed 6 CSM and inflicted one wound on the Zoantrophe. No assults.
In their shooting phase they killed two more Grey Hunters. The Rhino also took one penetrating wound and was immobilized with snapfire for one turn. No assault.

And this is what it looked like
In their turn the Heldrake flew in and incinerated 5 Grey Hunters, the Raveners deepstruk next to Sammael and his bikes, Sammael took 1 wound from a shooting attack and the Zoanthrope suffered it's final wound due to perils of the warp. The Terminators were blinded, reducing their WS to 1. Then the CSMs charged into the Terminators, 1 challenge was issued and the Terminator Sergeant was killed - the rest of the CSMs then hit for a total of 45 attacks (later we found that it should only have been 36 but they would still have died since the Sorcerer cast a Slaanesh psychic power giving the entire unit a +1S so he wounded on 2+) and the terminators were wiped out. The Sorcerer, happy to win his challenge, rolled on the chaos boon table and was gloriously turned into a Chaos Spawn (the nurgling base in the photos to come).

After that it was time for turn 3. In the shooting phase 5 more CSMs were shot dead as well as two Raveners. No assaults.

Tyranids and CSM killed of two DA Space Marines, 3 Grey Hunters and 2 Bikes. The Raveners then charged the DA Space Marines and the vet. sergeant shot himself in the face and died during overwatch. In the close combat the DA lost 4 guys and inflicted 2 wounds on the Raveners.

Turn 4 one Tyranid Warrior was shot to pieces and the three guys in the CSM group leaving only the Sorcerer and 1 random marine. Sammael charged into the Ravenger and didn't inflict a single wound, however the DA inflicted 1 wound and lost 1 guy.
Then the Heldrake went into hoover mode incinerated 4 Grey Hunter and another 5 Grey Hunters were killed as well as the Rune Priest and his last companion. The Chaos Spawn ran as far away as possible. In close combat the Ravangers lost the combat and fled, only to be hunted down and destroyed.

Turn 5 Sammael moved and shot on wound on the chaos spawn and killed the last space marine, the remaining DA Space Marines ran back up into the house,1 Tyranid Warrior was killed and the Heldrake lost a hp. The last Grey Hunters assaulted the Tyranid Warriors, killed one and then died.
The Tyranids/Chaos Space Marine commenced the killing, blew up the Rhino and one of the four Long Fangs that jumped out of it as well as Sammael.

Turn 6 the Heldrake was shot and exploded.
The Tyranids then killed 1 more of the Long Fangs.

Turn 7 my side did nothing and the Tyranids blew up the last 2 Long Fangs and killed 2/3 DA space marines and the last guy was really scared and started running away, counting as a casualty when the game ended.

Tyranids/Chaos Space Marines won with 14 to 5 victory points!

All in all it was a quite even game. The Heldrake made some nice template shots and the opponents definitely had an upper hand when it came to amount of units and victory points they could score though none of us made any really tactical error and in turn 4 it looked like we actually had a shot at winning.
Nevertheless I have never rolled worse in my entire life. 60% of all my dice rolls were 1s and 2s (nope, I'm, not exaggerating, the last 4 turns everybody bursted out laughing whenever I rolled cause it was either a score of perfect hits but no wounds or no hits at all and definetely no saves - most have been some sort of world record and I'm sort of sad I didn't record it xD) ... insane! O.o Our most likely theory was that the Chaos Gods were angry with me for not playing Chaos Daemons and did something tricky whenever I rolled. ^^

Regardless it was a fun evening! :)

Hopefully I'll also have time to make the other part of the HQ review of the Dark Angels Codex today so stay tuned ;)

Cheers ^^

Dark Angels named HQ:s

Hello :)

So today I made my first ever review of a the Dark Angels named HQ:s. I was planning on making a series of videos that cover all the army entries.
I am well aware that it might not be the best since I haven't done one before so if you have any pointers on how I can improve it please say so :)

Next battle

Evenin' :)

Today I have been thinking a bit about what army I should play the next time I make a battle report. Since I've played Chaos Daemons mostly the last games then I thought it would be fun with another game of Dark Angels. After all I did lose and the terminators never really got to show off last time.
Though this time I thought why not no terminators? Maybe lots of bikes instead!?

Here's what I'm thinking so far, for a game of 1000p:

HQ:        Sammael

Troop:    1 Ravenwing attack squadron + 3 additional bikes with 2 melta guns + 1 Ravenwing Support
Squadron (aka a land speeder) with a  multi-melta and heavy flamer+ attack bike with multi
                melta

1  Ravenwing attack squadron + 1 plasma gun

Fast:       1 Nephilim Jetfighter
               1 Ravenwing Dark Shroud

Heavy:    1 Land Speeder Vengeance

I really want the models to be painted before I make another battle report, it's by far the funniest to watch. If I'm to go with list, well lets just say I have a lot on my plate :)

This is actually 1001 points but we agreed to that being ok since it's a friendly game :)

Monday's taking it's toll, as always. Though I did manage to finish off the last details on Sammael and he's now done! :)

One more DA finished - brilliant :)

Hobby weekend

Evening! ^^

I'm gonna start of by saying that this has been an absolutely brilliant weekend. :)

The sole purpose of this weekend, besides having fun and playing some games was to teach Malin, the Necron player in the upcoming campaign, how to play her army. And she was good, learned fast and everything!
First I challenged her in a 500p game with my Chaos Daemons and ironically she was the one rolling dice like a god xD The game was Purge the Aliens, aka victory points for all killed units and then secondary victory points from Slay the warlord, linebreaker and first blood. The setup was a bit fail for me cause I had many smaller units while she had only 3 larger ones. Though it seemed even until the very end when I failed some charges and she crushed me like a bug. xD Ah well, it was fun ^^

Now the best thing about 500p is that they are not all that time-consuming so she could keep trying. :)
First against the Imperial Guard army (also 500p) and I thought it would be nice if she crushed him as well, giving me some retribution for the DA slaughter this week.
It seemed lost for the Imperial Guard since the Necrons where a tad better at shooting and killed most of the opposing units. However they played the Emperor's will and they both held each of the objectives (worth 3v.p. each).  In the end when the immortals set out to shoot down the last heavy weapon team holding the objective the commissar, last standing in his unit (and also the second only model alive), made a heroic charge, survived overwatch and a round of close combat and thus winning by one victory point (he had first blood) since the immortals didn't get to shoot in their upcoming turn and then the game ended. Turn of events indeed! ^^

The last game played that evening was Necrons against Tau (500p) and the mission the Relic. Tau won the roll off for beginning the game and planned on standing as close to the Necrons as possible for a  nice round of shooting. However Necrons stole the initative, stepped up and shot a lot of dudes to pieces, along with most of the troop choices. The game was over in the third turn - striking victory for Necrons!

All in all it was a lot of fun both to play and watch and everyone helped out with tips and tricks (even when being the opponent) to make it as good of an experience as possible. Naturally since when lured into the hobby she can be crushed like a bug without wanting the quit *evil laugh*.

After that we sat down to play a game of Chaos in the Old World (the nerdiness continues). It's an awesome game! If you haven't played it the idea of the game is that you play as one of the Chaos Gods and depending on which one you have different ways to take over the world (actually more or less destroy it). For example if you play Khorne you get points by killing others. Since Chaos Gods don't play well together of course there's plotting and scheming in order to, not only destroy the world, but also kill each other (there can only be one winner). An extra twist is the fact that if you're to slow in killing of each other and meeting the victory conditions the world wins and the gods are forced back to the warp.
If you haven't played it - play it! :)

Today we slept in and then spent the afternoon painting models. I started painting the terminators and the dread while Malin got to try her painting skills on a Necron warrior and one immortal. I for one think that even though you borrow and army and play with it feels a bit more like yours if you have helped paint some of the models. :) She's Very Good for a beginner (great for me cause two of my Necrons now look awesome!) :)
I got started on base coating and washing the terminators and the venerable dread:

During the painting I will continue to take loads of pictures so that I can make picture series how-to just
like the one for the terrain. :)

Now I'm gonna continue the brilliant weekend with some chips and Doctor Who :)

Night night

Dark Angels vs. Imperial Guard battle report

Good morning

Here's a freshly baked Battle report for you and your morning coffee :)

Part 1

Part 2

First time I played a real game with Dark Angels so feel free to give me pointers :)

Now I'm gonna make a 500p Chaos Daemons list! Today a friend of mine is coming over and me and some other dudes are gonna teach her how to play 40K and Necrons. We thought it might be easier to play a couple of battles against different armies so it will be my Chaos Daemons, Imperial Guard and Tau.

Why no battle report? :O

Sad but true I made a huge mistake (unknowingly) and filmed the entire battle report in a format my iMovie program can't handle so I have been changing all the movie clips into mp4 files and it's basically taken the entire evening. But the battle report will be finalizing very nicely while I sleep and be up by tomorrow morning ^^

Today I have put together my Venerable Dreadnought and primed my two terminator squads with white :) Hopefully I'll soon get cracking on painting them and making a how-to-paint guide! ^^

Here's a picture of the love of my life so that you'll be amazed by how cute she is and forget all about the battle report ^^

Time to play!

Now I'm gonna try out some of my Dark Angels :)
Today I'm facing some Imperial Guard - namely Death Korps of Krieg. These models are amazing so I thought I'd show you some of the models! (they aren't mine)

I'll post the battle report tomorrow. Wish me luck ^^

Terrain

So I have now finished two terrain pieces, assembled 1 Deathwing Command Squad, one group of Deathwing Knights and 1 Nephilim Jetfighter.

Thought I'd make a quick picture series of how I painted the terrain. I use both old and new colors from GWs line.

Assembly - loads of mold lines and not a very good fit! O.o

First a coat of Chardonite Grey and then
a heavy drybrush of Baneblade Brown

Washing with loads of Agrax Earthshade
Lighter drybrush of Baneblade Brown
The eagle is made the exact same way plus one extra stippling
layer of gretchin green. The earth around it was painted with
Beastial Brown and drybrushed with Tausept Ochre.
This is the final result :) The tiny stones are painted with Codex Grey and
drybrushed with Fortress Grey. Then I added some grass.

Weekly Update

Here's the weekly planing for you. ;)  Loads of Dark Angels involved :D

Soul Grinder

So daylight turned into snowstorm but at least it's bright enough to take pictures :)
Here is my Soul Grinder:

I  really like the way it turned out :D

For now I have painted all of my minis, except for one, in the Chaos Daemon army. I will take a break from them for a little while now in order to paint the Dark Angels and also loads of terrain! :)
Though I will give all Daemon fans a sneak peak of the model that is to come:

Guess which :)

Stupid dark country...

So I finally(!) finished my Soul Grinder! However it's to dark in this stupid country to get a shot if him now...I'll have to wait for tomorrow and shot him in daylight instead. :)

Apart from the soul-grinder I started painting Sammael today to get him ready for the Dark Angels that will hopefully turn up tomorrow (yay!) :)
Here's a sneak-peak of what he looks so far (yes, the very same crappy light):

Daemons vs. puny humans

The puny humans defeated me though...they had help from the Dark Angels.

Last night some friends came over and we played a "beginners game". Earlier I've mentioned that we're gonna have a campaign, Crusade of Fire, but the guy who's gonna play Dark Angels have never played Warhammer 40K (quick learner though!) so he borrowed my Dark Angels and gave them a trial run to get the idea of his upcoming army :)
It went a little to well! Though I had really unlucky rolls with my deepstrike! First the Plaugebearers came down and mishapped so my opponents (2v1) placed them at the far edge of the battleboard and since we played the entire game on the other side they never got to see any action (so slow...). My Daemon Prince also mishaped and got to go back to reserves. He came in round 3 and tried to save the game but it was to late. I had just lost my entire group of Pink Horrors and all my Bloodletters to some lucky rounds from the Space Marines.
And Kairos...oh Kairos...he mishaped and went back to reserves and on the 3rd turn, when he was supposed to atleast have come down with the Daemon Prince I got a 1...luck! Whoo!
By then the game was already over, I had hopes to put Kairos in the midst of it all and make my darling Bloodletters and Pink Horrors save ALL thier wounds - but no :(

Regardless it was a fun game and I had the upper hand until end of game turn 2. Then I died!

(my sole though the remainder of the game ^^)

I didn't make a Battlereport since it was ment to be a longer, learn the rules, 1500p game. Next time though!

Soon to come...

Soon my Dark Angels will be here, I can hardly wait! ^^
Ordered a lot of stuff:

1 Space Marine Devastator Squad
2 Deathwing Terminator boxes
2 Ravenwing Command Squads
1 Land Speeder Vengeance
2 Ravenwing Dark Talons
1 Belial
1 Codex

Too many days left! :o
Thinking I'm gonna start with the Terminators and at the same time do a video tutorial of how to paint them. Though I might also do a short review/look-trough of the new Codex. :)

How did I get into the hobby?

Hi!

Here's a video of me (surprise!) talking about what got me started on the hobby in the first place :)

And here are the models in the video:

One of my very first orc boys (I sold all but this one, thought it would be fun to have as a reference later on of how I have improved my painting ^^)

 And the Slann

Hope you liked it :)

Dark Angels

Hello! :)

Today has actually been a hobby day! I finally got hold of some Leadbelcher and got to paint the first layer of metal on all of the legs on the Soul grinder! It's a lot of metal...
Also noticed that my black primer skills were kinda lacking so I have to paint black on some of the parts by hand. Yay xD

Regardless, here's a paint update:

Also, as promised, the Dark Angels!

Hope you like 'em :)

Chaos Daemons vs. Necrons

Hiya

Today I finally finished and uploaded my battle report! It's a 500p game between Necrons and Chaos Daemons. It's divided into two parts:

This was my first time ever recording and editing a video and keeping that in mind I'm quite pleased. However I know the audio and video quality was sort of lacking and so for the next battle report I'll make sure to get a better camera :)
Hope you find it enjoyable anyways! ^^

Evening activities

Evenin'

Thought I'd share with you what I have been spending time on this evening, apart from editing the battle report that hopefully will be finished by tomorrow :)

Originally I was planning on much needed paint-progress for my Soul Grinder but my paints disagreed and what was left of the Leadbelcher was way less then I remembered. This combined that the little that was left had turned into a silvery goo made me look for something else to do. And here it is:

The cutting and cleaning of the Planetary Empire tiles. The tiles themselves are Easy but all the tiny flags. God, such annoying work! But now it's done! Feels nice :)
Me and a couple of friends are gonna get together sometime during January (according to plan at least ;)) and start a campaign: Crusade of Fire.

For the campaign you need these maps:

We now have enough to build almost all of the planets except for about 3. Technically we would need one more box of Planetary Empires but we're thinking we might make due with the ones we have for starters :)
Regardless it's gonna be super fun! I'm gonna play my Chaos Daemons and I know for a fact that there will be 1 army of Imperial Guard (Deathkorpse of Krieg), 1 Necron army, 1 Chaos Space Marine army and 1 Tau army. There will be at least two more players but they haven't quite decided which armies to play just yet but it's probably gonna be Space Wolves and Tyranids.
Can't wait to get started! ^^

Have a nice evening

Chaos Daemons vs. Necrons 500p...

If all goes according to plan I'll be playing a game of 500p tomorrow for which I'll make a battle report. :)
I've been thinking a bit about what units I'm gonna include and this is the version I'm most satisfied with:

1 Herald of Tzeentch (HQ)
9 Bloodletters of Khorne (Troop)
6 Pink Horrors; 1 chaos bolt, Changeling (Troop)
3 Nurglings (Troop)
3 Screamers of Tzeentch (Fast Attack)
3 Flamers of Tzeentch (Elite)

We decided to play by "What you see is what you get" so I had to limit the Bloodletters to 9 since i couldn't afford the icon. Originally I planned for the Plaugebearers to join cause they've done an awesome job in earlier games but in the end decided not to due to their Slow & Purposefull rule. Since Necrons like to shoot things I really want to get into close combat before I get shot to pieces...

We'll see how it plays out, I'll keep you updated!
