Tau Troops

Hello

So yesterday i finished of the review for troops, dedicated transport and marker lights:

Also I finished reading through all of the lore in the codex. It was very well written I must say! I haven't read the lore in the old codex but maybe I should do that too...
I love how they make Tau sound like a super nice race that only work for the greater good. It even made me think that they were still nice, even when killing of those that didn't share their view. Sneaky!

Also painted some on the broadside yesterday:

It's coming along just fine I think :)
Even though I don't really like Tau, I find their models to be a little too bulky and boring, the models are really nice to paint! The lining is killing me but the result looks good, even after only a few layers. ^^

Hopefully I will get some more layers on it later this afternoon. Aiming to have it done alongside the reviews. ^^

Cheers
//Sara

  2. Hey great work on the XV-88! Did you say you were having trouble with the paneling or lines between armour plates? Washes work great for those.
I'd love to see some more pics of the Broadside

    1. yeah I'm gonna give all of it a huge wash and then paint all of the armor again and give it a lining highlight, like for the black parts. Lots of work but neat end result :)

    1. jaddå, använder bara GWs färger. La ett lager av den, eller ja Agrax earthshade, efter att jag tog denna bilden och sen ett till lager orange :)

  4. Very well painted broadside...ah, my 5th edition Tau army still is laying dusty and forgotten, screaming that I betrayed greater good. Maybe its time for me to do something about it :) Waiting for more inspiration from your part.

    1. Well I'll try and put some inspiration out there then! ^^Though it will most likely only be that broadside seeing as I don't really play Tau.

  5. I like the fact that with the Tau fluff they are all 'greater good' and seemingly nice but in reality theres a very dark undercurrent in the Tau Empire.

Its either join us or die. There's no "oh you don't want to join the greater good? Ok, thanks for listening. Bye!"
Once races do join they swiftly realize that the greater good mainly involves everyone else being fairly subservient to the Tau themselves, or 2nd class citizens. Or they get people through sneakiness. The Vespid ony came to like the Tau once issued with their Communion helms, suggesting some form of technological mind control.

Also nobody has quite figured out whats going on with the Ethereals. Are they controlling the entire Tau race somehow, as suggested by Farsight defecting once his Ethereals died?

They may seem nice, but read between the lines and there's something fishy going on. 40k have a goody goody race. Never! :)

I don't know if you particularly need to go back to the old codex and read the fluff. The new one is almost a copy of it, just with a few extra bits (very few).

    1. Aye I really like the "I'll kill you for not sharing my views" part as well.
Well, maybe I won't read the old codex then :P I am at the moment reading through "Shadowsun" thought and it's so good! ^^ Tau lore is quite neat! Still not chaotic enough to make me convert to the greater good though, but close enough :P

    2. I haven't read any of the Tau novels yet. I'm going to try and pick one up soon though. I'll take your recommendation and pick up Shadowsun. I'm trusting you! ;)
